Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

I don't have a card to share with you today, but I do have something creative. My granddaughters came over yesterday to carve pumpkins, and I'm impressed.

Emilie carved the pumpkin on the left. She's 12.  It actually LOOKS like the Grim Reaper, which is what it's SUPPOSED to look like.  She did really well.  Rachel carved the pumpkin in the middle. Isn't it spooky looking?  It is very intricately carved. I would never have attempted it, but it looks really good.  And then we have the pumpkin I carved on the right.  I went for simple.

We had a good time, and really, isn't that what it's all about?

Halloween

Hello!

It's time to dig out all my Halloween stamps. I love making Halloween cards.  This year I bought an embossing folder that I really like, but I don't like the fact that it's all one color when you are through running it through your machine.  So....

I chose white cardstock, and ran it though the Cuttlebug with the embossing folder.  Then the fun began.

I colored the stockings with bright purple and yellow Spectrum Noir markers.  The shoes I colored with black, and gold for the buckle.  Then I put glitter on everything!  When it was all dry, I cut them out and put them on background patterned paper.

Here are two more examples.  I changed the colors of the shoes and the stockings. Still has the Halloween feel though. You can click the images for a larger view.

I was happy when finished.

Have a great day!

Last Halloween - at least for now...

Hope you have been enjoying my posts.

This is the last Halloween card....at least for now.

The outside of the card folds in towards the middle, and has a sugar skull and creepy images stamped on the orange cardstock.  The inside is where it gets interesting.

When you open the card, the left and right sides are patterned paper to cover the orange cardstock. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to make the haunted house. I embossed the haunted house folder on the blue cardstock, then embossed it again on black cardstock.  I used a bronze marker to color the fences and the posts on the top of the house (blue cardstock). I also cut out the moon and put some yellowish cardstock behind the blue to show through. And a black marker to color the bats.

Then I cut out the house from the black cardstock, and using an X-acto knife cut out the window and put green cardstock behind it. I colored the rest of the windows black, then used glossy accents to make the "glass".  I sprayed Goosebumps spray over the whole black house to give it texture.

Then I stamped the $1 "Happy Halloween" sentiment and adhere it to the bottom.  I made some similar cards last year, but I have new people to send them to this year.

Hope you enjoy these cards as much as I enjoy making them.

Do something crafty!

More Halloween

Ah, I'm in the Halloween mood now. I bought some spooky stuff to put in my yard, and I've made another card.

This one is for my granddaughter, Rachel.  Rachel used to spend her afternoon after school at my scrapbook store and has become quite the artist.

Anyway, this is another of the $1 stamps from JoAnn's.  I like sugar skulls, and Rachel does too.  She's also a Batman girl.  She loves anything Batman.

More polka dots, and small spiders this time.  Also, a star brad to add a little interest.

I hope you get to make something beautiful today.

Halloween Time

Not only do I like Fall/Autumn, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  I like to dress up in costume to give out candy.  I've done it for as long as I remember. Some years my hubby dresses up in costume, too, and we have even won prizes for best costumes.  I'm thinking about what I am going to be this year. Maybe a black widow.  I might even post pictures.

So, it's time to make those Halloween cards for some of my favorite people.  I picked up some $1 stamps at JoAnn's a few weeks ago, and decided to give them a try.

This card is for my granddaughter, Emilie.

The ribbon was also in the dollar bin, and is self adhesive. There were 3 or 4 foot long strips in the package. I stamped the spiders on the orange cardstock, as well as white cardstock. I colored them, cut the bodies out and adhered them to the stamped orange cardstock.  I made big black polka dots with a marker, then put some black glitter glue over them. And the googly eyes just made me giggle.

I think she'll like the card.

Hope you have a crafty day.

Another Halloween Card

Good morning!  Halloween is fast approaching.  Are you dressing up?  Do you have any parties to go to? I usually dress up to give out candy.  I'd better hurry up and decide what I'm going to be this year.

My friend Lorian reminded me that I should have used Uncle Jumpy on one of my Halloween cards. So I did just that.

What do you think?  I think he adds a  little "terror" to the card. Or mystery.  Anyway, thanks for the idea, Lorian.

Hope you have a spookfully delightful Halloween...

Halloween Card

It's been awhile.  I've had computer problems (I smoked a brand new computer that wasn't even a week old), both here and at work.  Add to that that I am learning a new graphics program, and it's easy to see why I haven't been involved with the blog.  However, that is neither here nor there.

I do want to share some Halloween cards with you.  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Maybe it's because I can dress up and be anybody I want to be.  I do love to dress up for Halloween, as does my hubby, and we've become quite good at it.  We've been doctor and nurse, queen and court jester,  the American Gothic couple.  You get the idea.

I cased the card idea from Michelle Zindorf, but I changed up the stamps.  I made some with pumpkins and some with cats.  I'll show you both cards.

I couldn't decide which color moon I really liked, but now that I see them online, I'm thinking the white moon gives a much better contrast.  Different sentiments on the inside, too.  I think my granddaughters will enjoy them

I hope you have a safe and happy Halloween....

Layout Challenge

Good evening.  I have a busy, busy weekend ahead, how about you?  I am in the middle of a virtual stamp convention at Rubber Stamp Chat, so I have orders to make.  Also, I need to get a haircut, I want to carve pumpkins with the granddaughters, and Sunday is Halloween, so I'll have to help the oldest granddaughter with her makeup.  She wanted to be the Mad Hatter, so we got her costume all ready, but she'll need help with the makeup.  The youngest one is going as a hippie, and she really looks cute in her costume.

I want to post some cards I made for the Technique Junkies layout challenge.  I had a lot of fun, and even though all the cards are the same layout, they have different looks. Tell me what you think:

They are pretty self-explanatory, so I won't bore you with all the details.  Why don't you give this layout a try?

Oh, I want to make some Pizza Mummies for the girls when they are here.  They are easy to make...just take English Muffin, split and toast.  Put some pizza sauce on them, then cut the cheese into strips. Layer the cheese in a criss cross fashion, leaving space for the eyes.  For the eyes, use black olives, and put either a piece of pimiento or scallion for the pupil. Place in a 350 degree oven until the cheese is lightly melted (about 10 minutes).   You can see them here.Publish Post

Hope you have a great weekend....

Halloween Card #2

Good morning! This is the re-make of the halloween card I showed you yesterday. This time I used a green background and put yellow behind the windows. I added some "mist" to the sky and put a spider in the upstairs window.

Which do you like best? Please leave a comment and let me know.

Happy Haunting....

Over The Moon Monday - Halloween Challenge

I hope you had a restful weekend. One of my favorite holidays is coming. Can you guess what it is? If you guessed Halloween, you are absolutely right. My husband and I usually dress up to hand out candy to the little trick or treaters, although I don't think that's going to happen this year. We have also been known to attend a party or two (and even win prizes), but that's not going to happen either. We have made some pretty elaborate costumes over the years, and always enjoy it.

Anyway, I wanted to share a card that I made using my cuttlebug. As usual, after I finished the card, there were a few things I would have done differently, but I still like the way it turned out.
To begin, I ran a sheet of white cardstock through the cuttlebug, using the haunted house template. Then I smeared purple ink over it. (This is one of the things I would do differently - I would just use purple cardstock next time.) Set this aside to dry.
  • Then I ran a piece of black cardstock through the haunted house embossing folder. I took an exacto knife and cut out all the windows and around the door, and I cut out the basic haunted house shape. I smeared white Brilliance ink on this to give it a grungy look.
  • I put green cardstock behind all the cut out windows, and put a little glitter on it to give it some shine. Then I adhered the black cardstock to the background.
  • I cut out the moon with an exacto knife from the purple background. I put a piece of yellow cardstock behind the cut out circle, and added some depth and shading with copic markers.
  • While I was at it, I colored the bats black, and used a white gel pen to make white dots for their eyes. When the white was dry, I colored over the white with red marker, making them have red eyes.
  • I took a gold gel pen and colored in the fence on the roof and also to the left of the house. Also, the balls on the top of the house.
  • I used a silver gel pen to color the stair rail on the right side of the house. I also colored in the shutters.
  • I stamped a ghost border from My Paper Moon, and cut out a couple of the ghosts. I used pop dots to make them stand out.
  • I used a white gel pen to write "Happy Halloween" on the bottom of the card. (I had a small stamp, but it didn't look quite right.).
  • All in all, I like the way this turned out. I think I might make one with a bright green sky background and see how that looks.

I hope you have enjoyed the card today. If you have a halloween card to share, please post a link in the comment section.

I have added some more cards to the gallery at My Paper Moon. I hope you have some time to take a look and let me know what you think. If you have any cards that use My Paper Moon stamps and would like to see them in the gallery, please email me or post a link in the comment section. I'd like to see them, too.

    Have a great week!

    A Halloween ATC

Here is an ATC made by Andrea Cloutier, using the Grave Girl stamp from My Paper Moon. I think the background makes this ATC really stand out.

So, how is your Friday going? I hope it's going great for you, and I hope you are getting to do something crafty.

Remember that there is only a week left to place an order and get a free awareness ribbon stamp (See the sidebar to the right). Don't delay, get your order in today.

Next week I will be giving away some blog candy, so stay tuned and have a great weekend.

    More Halloween

Good afternoon! I hope you are having a wonderful day.

Because it's only a little over a week away, here's another Halloween card:

This card was also done by Randy Schoolcraft using stamps from My Paper Moon. Randy is a wonderful artist, don't you think?

The weather is still gorgeous. I think fall has finally arrived in Florida. At night I have the windows open and the cool breeze makes for wonderful sleeping weather. How's the weather where you live?

I'll post another Halloween card tomorrow. I hope one inspires you! Have a crafty day.

    Uncle Jumpy

Good afternoon! The weather here is beautiful, and I'm enjoying every single minute of it!

This card is on the homepage over at the Midwest Stampers Yahoo Group. It was an ATC I did for the Dark and Scary Night Trading Card Swap. Believe it or not, there are 5 stamps on this little card. Here's how I made it:

Using glossy cardstock, I stamped the skeleton sitting on the gravestone first. That also included the bats and the moon. Then I stamped the bare tree. After that I stamped the scaredy cat and Uncle Jumpy. I love Uncle Jumpy. He's so nervous about everything! He needed something else to be nervous about, so I stamped the raven stamp and then cut it out and placed it on Uncle Jumpy's hat with a pop dot. I colored the sky with markers, but they smeared and left lines. So, I painted the sky with Twinks, which also smeared, but when it finally dried it looked kind of cool, so I left it. I colored the grass with copic markers. Also the moon, and then put some stickles on it to give it that old harvest shine. All in all I was pleased with the way it turned out. All stamps are available at My Paper Moon.

I turned off my A/C at home, and I'm going outside and enjoy some more weather now. Hope you have a crafty day.

    Happy Thursday

Good morning! Or should I say afternoon, since it's almost that time. I know I've been neglecting you, but I've been very busy with the orders from the virtual rubber stamp convention over at Rubber Stamp Chat. It was a smashing success, I'm happy to report. But, I had to make a bunch of stamps, so it didn't leave me much time to update my blog.

With Halloween approaching, I thought I'd share some cards with you. This card was made by Randy Schoolcraft, using stamps from My Paper Moon. That poor skeleton doesn't know what's about to hit him.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, because my hubby and I usually dress up. We start the planning process months in advance, and have been known to still be sewing right up to the start of the party we usually attend. We usually go as a pair, but last year I struck out on my own and went as Cruella DeVil. It was such fun. The year before we won 1st place as the Queen of Hearts and the Royal Jester. We don't have any plans to dress up this year, since we don't have a party to go to. So, I will have to revert back to my normal self, which is a pirate. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Tonight is my oldest granddaughter's first chorus concert, and my hubby and I are attending. I remember my own chorus concerts when I was in school, and then my daughter's concerts when she was in school, and now Rachel is having a concert. I love to hear choral music, so it should be fun.
That's all for now. Hope you have a crafty day.

Halloween is coming....and new images are here!

New stamps have been uploaded and are now available here.

This card was created by Randy Schoolcraft, using stamps from My Paper Moon. Randy has created several Halloween cards, which I will be featuring during the days and weeks ahead. Randy is a very talented stamper, don't you think?

It's been overcast here, and a little on the windy side, but the good news is Tropical Storm Hanna passed us by to the east. Now we just how to keep our eyes on Hurricane Ike.

I hope you have a great weekend!
