Black and White #4

Oooohhh, another chilly day in Florida. Chilly? What am I thinking? It's downright COLD! Brrrr. I definately didn't want to get out of bed this morning. It's only 47 degrees right now in the middle of the day. When it gets this cold in Florida, to us it is cold.

On to the last of my black and white cards:
I really liked the way this one turned out, and it was very easy to do. What could be better than that?

I stamped the image (from Hero Arts) onto white cardstock with black palette ink. I distressed the edges and matted it onto black cardstock, using eyelets.

I put a piece of Magic Mesh around my brayer, and inked it up with white gesso. You could also use white acrylic paint. I brayered this over my black cardstock for the background. If you weren't making a black and white card, you could use any color acrylic paint you wanted to to complement your color scheme. This actually looks messier than it is. If you don't have a brayer, you could also put the magic mesh onto the cardstock and sponge your colors on. And if you don't have magic mesh, a piece of mesh ribbon would also work.

I cut a piece of black and white ribbon to fit on the front of the card and adhered it with glue. Then I placed the matted image over top and viola! Another card done.

I've given you come ideas to work with. I hope I've inspired you to create something today.

Black and White #3

Good morning! Another chilly day in Florida.

Here is my 3rd black and white card:

There is no stamping involved with this card. It is actually a cuttlebug folder that was embossed, then I added the black by running an inkpad over the embossed area. I like the shabby way it turned out. There is a sheen to the black that is not able to be viewed from the scan.

I hope you keep warm today. I'll check back in soon.

Black and White #2

Good aft3ernoon! Here is my second black and white card. I really like the way this turned out, and it really looks so much better in real life. I stamped the same image, once with black ink of white cardstock and once with white ink on black cardstock. I cut them both out and aligned them so that they matched up. I matted the white cardstock on textured black cardstock, and I matted the black cardstock on white. I ran 2 pieces of cardstock (1 black, 1 white) through the cuttlebug with an embossing folder. You can't see the embossing on the black very well, but it's there. I cut those in half and mounted my other piece on it. I stamped "dream" with white ink on black cardstock and distressed the edges with white ink. I layered that with foam pop dots to make it stand out.

I hope you have a creative day!

Black and White

I apologize for not posting Saturday. I didn't have phone/internet for the weekend. A mixed blessing? Anyway, I'm here now, and let's get to it, shall we?

This month I have been challenged to make 4 cards that are black and white only. At first thought, I was kind of intimidated, but after I started working on it, I could have made quite a few more than 4. Here is the first one:

I chose a winter snowflake theme for the first card. The black snowflakes are stamped on white cardstock. On top of this I put a layer of black with white dots patterned paper in the center of the card. On top of this There is a layer of black textured cardstock, then a strip of white mulberry paper that I tore.

I punched out some white snowflakes and put icicle glitter glue on them and adhered them to the white mulberry paper. I embellished them with rhinestones and pearls (as I also did the black snowflakes on the white paper). I cut a small piece of white mulberry paper and stamped "let it snow" with black ink. I matted on a small piece of black cardstock and adhered it to the card. I really like the way it turned out.

It's a yucky day here in the sunshine state, with no sunshine in sight at all. I have a sinus headache, and I just have an all-round yucky feeling today. Stay warm where you are and I'll have another black and white card tomorrow.
