Hug a Heart Card Drive BLOG HOP

Good morning!  I'm so glad you could join us for the Hug A Heart Blog Hop.

We have some very talented designers with us today, and I hope you will be able to visit each and every one.  There will be blog candy involved, so let's get started.

I knew I wanted my cards to be simple, something that a child could enjoy.  No loose glitter, no bulky embellishments, just a colorful card.

I started this project with a piece of 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock that I had swiped different colors of Dylusions acrylic paint on.   I didn't have a heart die, but I found a heart pattern, so I cut out some large hearts.

I did have a small heart punch, so I punched out a lot of those as well, but as you will see below, I also punched some out of the strips of colorful cardstock.

Nothing went to waste.  The small hearts I also used on cards, like the card above and the card below.

I liked the border stamp, and the fact that it could be used with any coordinating color of ink, so I used it quite a bit.

I had a scrap of some gold paper, so I put that behind the punched out hearts in the above card.

Some of the cards I just embellished the white hearts that were on the cardstock behind the punched out colorful paper.

A few different sentiments helped make the cards "friend-ly", without making the cards into Valentines.

A gel pen goes a long way to help embellish the cards, as in the stitching around the heart  on the card below.

So you see, you don't have to make elaborate cards to join this card drive.  All in all, I am happy with the cards I will be sending Christina.

If you came here from Sue's blog, you should go on to Edwina's blog.  If not, you can start at the beginning of the hop on Christina's blog.

For more information about the Hug A Heart Card Drive, please see my post here.

And remember, there are giveaways.

Over The Moon Monday - We have a winner

Thank you for joining me this weekend for the SNR Card Universe Blog Hop. I had a fun time, and yes, I also hopped through all 90+ blogs. What fun to see all the many patriotic projects. Great inspiration for next year.

As promised, I have blog candy to give away...the stamps used to create my card. I went to www.random.org and the number generated was 37. I will be sending both the large and small ribbon and the saying to our lucky winner of comment #37.

And now for the winner.....drum roll please......Diana Enns. Diana said, "I do like this card......bookmarked and will come back later to review how you did it. Thanks for sharing."

Thank you, Diana, for joining me, and congratulations on winning. I will be contacting you shortly for your mailing address and you will have until July 13th to furnish me with that info.

I don't have a card to share or a challenge this week, so do something crafty and post a link here to share with the rest of us.

Oh Say Can You See Blog Hop

I'm so glad you could join the SNR Card Universe Blog Hop today. If you came from Lorie Ames blog you are on the right track! If you didn't, you may want to hop to SNR Card Universe and start at the beginning.

Let's get started, shall we? Today I have a red, white and blue card to share with you.

I know you have a lot more blogs to check out, so we'll keep this short and sweet.

1. I adhered aluminum foil to a piece of cardstock. Then I applied alcohol inks in denim and red pepper, leaving some of the silver showing through. I spritzed it with alcohol to get splatters.

2. I ran the cardstock through the cuttlebug with the diamonds in the rough embossing folder. Then I took a staz-0n pad in ultramarine and smooshed it over the raised diamonds.

3. I stamped "U.S.A..." onto white cardstock, and cut it out with a nestability oval die. I took a red staz-0n pad and distressed the paper, with spatters and edging. Set aside to dry.

4. I stamped the large awareness ribbon onto white cardstock, coloring with a red marker and a blue marker. Then I cut it out and adhered pop dots on the back.

5. I cut a piece of red cardstock 4" x 3/4". I punched a whole and secured a blue star brad. Then I adhered it to the front of the card.

6. I had a silver flag charm, which I colored with blue and red alcohol ink, rubbing some off to give it a distressed look. I adhered that to the bottom of the oval with a silver brad. Then I adhered it to the red cardstock with adhesive.

7. I adhered the cut out awareness ribbon to the front of the card, and layered it onto red cardstock, white cardstock, and blue cardstock.

Today I would like to give away the awareness ribbon stamp, along with the U.S.A. ... because of the brave stamp to a lucky person who leaves a comment on this blog. I will take comments until 11:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5th. The winner will be drawn by a random number generator. Please leave a way for me to get in contact with you in your comment, as blogger does not furnish me with any information as to who you are, and I would hate for you to win and then me not be able to contact you.

I hope you have enjoyed my blog today, and I hope you have a safe and wonderful 4th of July. Next on the hop is Melissa Banian, so be sure to visit her blog.
