One World - One Heart (OWOH) My Paper Moon Giveaway

Photo

Hello and welcome to my blog. This is my first year participating in this event which was created by Lisa of A Whimsical Bohemian.  Make sure that after leaving a comment here you go visit her blog for lots more links to great blogs (over 900 of them) and giveaways.   I want to thank Marina of Cherry Pie Art Stamps for telling me about this event.

This is a great opportunity to meet new friends, and so I'd like to tell you a little about myself.  I live in Florida and I am married to a wonderful man. Between us we have 4 children, 2 grandchildren, 2 cats, various grandpets, and a love for rubber stamping.  I own My Paper Moon, which is a rubber stamp manufacturing company. You can see more posts of what I love to do if you read further. Please leave me a comment and tell me a little about yourself.

Just for stopping by I would like to give you the opportunity to win one of my unmounted rubber stamps. I think it's fitting that it be a heart stamp, don't you?

You have to leave a comment and a way for me to contact you if you win. The cutoff time for leaving a comment is February 13th, so please get your comment posted by then. I will be using a random number generator to pick the winner, which I will be announcing right here on February 15th.  If you are reading this at a site other than the blog, you have to come here (http://www.becky-mypapermoon.blogspot.com/)  to leave a comment.

I'm glad you stopped by and I hope to see you here again.

Over The Moon Monday - Valentine's

Good morning and welcome to another Over The Moon Monday. I hope you have had a wonderful week. It was a busy one for me at work (which is a good thing), but I didn't get a lot of cardmaking done (which is a bad thing).

I went to Jo-Ann's over the weekend, and their new nestability dies have been flying off the shelf. I did have a 50% off coupon and managed to get one set of dies. The cashier told me they initially didn't have plans to restock them, but since they have done so well, they will be getting more in in the future.

I have added new Valentine's stamps to the store. For a limited time only, I will be offering 20% off any order (U.S. orders only), but you must use coupon code Val20 at check-out.

Let's get started on today's card. I used 2 images from the new stamps: the new Floral Heart and the Friends stamp. You can see all the new stamps here: http://www.mypapermoon.com/store/WsDefault.asp?iNew=New.

I used scraps of patterned paper to make a herringbone pattern for the background. That's a technique with the Technique Junkies and is pretty simple to do.
I stamped the heart image onto glossy cardstock that had been colored red with alcohol inks. I then cut it out and mounted on a piece of red cardstock. I added some glitter to the flowers to give them a little zing. I added some faux stitching (and if you could see my handsewing in real life, the crooked stitches are pretty real looking).

I stamped "Friends" onto black cardstock using a pigment ink, then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I faux stitched it with white ink.

I adhered both the heart and the friends to the background, then stamped a sentiment inside.

I hope you have enjoyed today's card. If you have made it all the way here, please leave a comment and I will have a drawing for a couple of free stamps from the new valentine's stamps. If you don't leave a way for me to get hold of you, you will have to check back next week to see if you won. Until next time, have a crafty week...

Oh Say Can You See Blog Hop

I'm so glad you could join the SNR Card Universe Blog Hop today. If you came from Lorie Ames blog you are on the right track! If you didn't, you may want to hop to SNR Card Universe and start at the beginning.

Let's get started, shall we? Today I have a red, white and blue card to share with you.

I know you have a lot more blogs to check out, so we'll keep this short and sweet.

1. I adhered aluminum foil to a piece of cardstock. Then I applied alcohol inks in denim and red pepper, leaving some of the silver showing through. I spritzed it with alcohol to get splatters.

2. I ran the cardstock through the cuttlebug with the diamonds in the rough embossing folder. Then I took a staz-0n pad in ultramarine and smooshed it over the raised diamonds.

3. I stamped "U.S.A..." onto white cardstock, and cut it out with a nestability oval die. I took a red staz-0n pad and distressed the paper, with spatters and edging. Set aside to dry.

4. I stamped the large awareness ribbon onto white cardstock, coloring with a red marker and a blue marker. Then I cut it out and adhered pop dots on the back.

5. I cut a piece of red cardstock 4" x 3/4". I punched a whole and secured a blue star brad. Then I adhered it to the front of the card.

6. I had a silver flag charm, which I colored with blue and red alcohol ink, rubbing some off to give it a distressed look. I adhered that to the bottom of the oval with a silver brad. Then I adhered it to the red cardstock with adhesive.

7. I adhered the cut out awareness ribbon to the front of the card, and layered it onto red cardstock, white cardstock, and blue cardstock.

Today I would like to give away the awareness ribbon stamp, along with the U.S.A. ... because of the brave stamp to a lucky person who leaves a comment on this blog. I will take comments until 11:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5th. The winner will be drawn by a random number generator. Please leave a way for me to get in contact with you in your comment, as blogger does not furnish me with any information as to who you are, and I would hate for you to win and then me not be able to contact you.

I hope you have enjoyed my blog today, and I hope you have a safe and wonderful 4th of July. Next on the hop is Melissa Banian, so be sure to visit her blog.

And the winner is....

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. My sweetie got me a dozen roses. I forgot to share my special Valentine story with you. It was the day my sweetie proposed to me in 2001. Very romantic.

Anyway, the comments were spead over several days, making a random number generator of little use, so I put everyone's comments into a box and had my DH pull out one.

And (drum roll please).....the winner of the prize for commenting on my Valentine's cards is...Georgette V. of Maine. Georgette, I'll be getting your prize into the mail on Tuesday.

Thank you everyone for playing along.

Valentine #4

Good morning! Our weather is back to normal - warm. It's still cool at night, and that's a good thing.

Here is the last of the valentine's I am going to share with you.

This is a gate-fold card. I cut the patterned paper to fit on each side of the card. I cut out a heart from holographic paper, then cut a slightly larger heart from black to place behind the holographic heart. I stamped the image (Cool Cat from My Paper Moon), colored him with copic markers and cut him out. I adhered him to the holographic heart. I stamped the same image again onto the patterned paper and just cut out the heart, which I adhered to the stamped imaged. I stamped "Happy Valentine's Day" on the inside, and viola! I'm done.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards. I have made quite a few other Valentine's cards, but I've run out of time to share them with you.

I love to read your comments. Tell me your most memorable Valentine's Day, and I'll pick a random winner on Sunday, February 15th, and send a prize. I will need contact info to get in touch with you if you are a winner. If I am unable to contact you or you don't respond to my emails by February 22nd I will pick another winner.

Blog Candy Winner!

I want to thank each and every one of you who posted on the blog. I can empathize with those of you who listed losing weight as your biggest challenge, because that it what I have to do THIS year. Maybe we should all form a support group. :-)

I know you are anxious to know who won the blog candy, so without further ado....

Drum roll please.....

The winner of the scrap metal is Sharon from Oklahoma, who wrote: "My hardest thing was I used to be a basic EMT and had to give that up because of a bad back. I did this for no pay they would have paid me but my dad had a terminal illness and used the ambulance service for years and I wanted to give back for what me got and show the world there is still compassion out there. I would do it again today if I could my dad's been gone almost 14 years and I miss him each day."

Sharon, please email me at mypapermoon512@aol.com with your mailing address, and I'll get it in the mail to you.

Thank You...and Blog Candy

Thank you for putting up with me this year. I have enjoyed your comments and I look forward to sharing with you in the new year. It has been a year today since I stopped smoking, and I thought that would be a good time to give something away. It wasn't an easy thing to do, but I (and my husband) succeeded. I'm proud of us. We couldn't have done it without each other.

As some of you know, I used to have a brick and mortar scrapbook store, and I had this Scrap Metal set left over, which contains 148 pieces. I would be happy to send it to some lucky person (winner drawn randomly). All you have to do is leave a comment telling me about the hardest thing you ever did (or gave up). Or one of your resolutions for this year.

I'll pick a winner on Monday, January 5th, so check back to see if you've won.

May we all have a healthy and prosperous 2009!

Embossing Folder Giveaway!

I hope everyone had a safe Halloween. It's been raining off and on here for the last couple of days. I like lazy Sunday afternoons when it rains. I've been reading a lot today, and my hubby has a pot of chili on the stove. Mmmmm. Can't get better than that.

I have the above Cuttlebug holly embossing folder to give away as blog candy. But you have to do something in return. I would like you to leave me a comment and tell me what is your best Christmas/holiday memory. It can either be as a child or as an adult. I will give you a week to think about it and post, and I will draw a winner randomly from the entries. So that would mean that on November 10th I will draw a winner and post it here. You will need to let me know how to contact you, or check back after that date to see if you've won.
Do something crafty...

We have a Winner!!!

Good morning! Hope you had a Happy and safe 4th of July!

I had my granddaughter, Emilie (she's 5), who is my random number generator (this makes her feel important), pick a number, and she chose number 2. So, Elise H. needs to contact me with her name and address by July 9th, so I can get the blog candy in the mail. If I do not hear from Elise by July 9th, we will draw another winner.

Talk to you again soon!

Blog Candy

Good morning! I love my pinwheel stamp. And bamboo skewers make the perfect handle for them. These are pop-dotted so they stand out from the paper. I need to make some red, white and blue ones for the 4th of July.

Speaking of the 4th of July, the poll is now closed, and the majority of you have voted to have a giveaway of some of the new stamps instead of a contest, so I will be giving away 7 of the new images, including a set of the awareness ribbons. All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what your 4th of July plans are. Also, your email address or some way to contact you if you are the winner. If I don't have any way of contacting you, then you will have to check back here on July 5th. Then, on the 4th of July, I will randomly (with my random number generator), pick a winner. Easy peasy! So what are you waiting for?

Thank you for all your prayers for Bradley. He's very appreciative. If you would like to send him a card his address is: Bradley McWhorter, Room 318, Markey Cancer Center, 800 Rose St., Lexington, KY 40536. He has started his chemo and so far so good.

Talk to you again soon...
