Over The Moon Monday - Stash Challenge

Good morning and welcome to another Over The Moon Monday at the blog. I hope you got to create this past week. I would love for you to share a link to your creations in the comment section.

Let's get on to today's challenge. I was looking around my studio at all the "stuff" I have been saving, and decided today would be a good day to challenge you to pick 3 items out of your stash that you haven't used in a long time, and make something with them.

When I went to my stash, I pulled out clear micro-beads, stardream cardstock (very shimmery), and a tag die. I can't remember the last time I used any of these products, so I pulled them out. This is my creation:
You can't really see the shimmer of the stardream cardstock, but it's gorgeous in real life. Anyway, I ran a piece of the gold through my cuttlebug with an embossing die. I used Coffee Bean Brilliance to accent the highlighted part of the cardstock, trimmed, and mounted it onto the card front, which is also gold stardream cardstock.

I then stamped the floral image (The Angel Company) onto white cardstock and colored with copic markers. When I had completed the coloring, I stippled Brilliance Galaxy Gold onto the image. Then I applied red liner tape to the image area and cut it into a circle with a nestability die. I removed the liner and poured clear micro-beads onto the image, smooshing them down so they would stick to the exposed tape.

This is a close up of the beaded area. I made 3 attempts at using these beads, and finally got this one right. You can't really see, it just looks out of focus on the scan, but it gives it a muted shiny look, which I really like. I need to use my beads more often.

I layered the beaded image onto a textured piece of yellow paper, and layered that onto a piece of brown cardstock that had also been cut with a nestability die into a scalloped circle. I took a piece of gold stardream cardstock, layered a piece of green cardstock onto that and put a piece of gold mesh ribbon on top.

I punched a tag from gold stardream cardstock and stamped "hello friend" on it with timber brown staz-on ink. I edged it with coffee bean Brilliance ink. I run a piece of gold thread through the hole and punched a hole in the scalloped circle medallion. I adhered that to the gold/green/mesh layer and viola! The card was complete.

I need to go through my stash and use things more often, how about you? When you do, please share your creation with us by posting a link in the comments section.

Until next time, do something crafty!

Over The Moon Monday - Father's Day

Good morning and welcome to another Over The Moon Monday. I trust you have a wonderful week and got to spend some time crafting. Since Father's Day is fast approaching, I want to share a card I made for my husband for Father's Day this year.

Several years ago I attended a convention and bought a sheet of unmounted stamps. I have no idea who makes these stamps, but if you know, please post to the comment section. Anyway, my hubby likes to drink wine with dinner, and I've made so many fish/fishing cards until I know he's sick to death of them, so this idea just kind of leaped into my brain. I think he will like this card. I colored the wine bottle and the glass of wine with permanent markers. Then I covered them with Versamark and coated them with clear embossing powder and heat set, so they would have a shiny look. You could do the same thing with Crystal Lacquer. I used a brick patterned paper for the background, and adhered the wine bottle. I stamped the wineglass again onto acetate, cut out the part that would show the bricks through the part of the glass that was empty, and adhered to the background with pop dots. This let the bricks show through nicely. I stamped "Let's Celebrate" onto a scrap of red cardstock, then outlined it with gold leafing pen and adhered to the background with pop dots. I stamped "Happy Father's Day" on the inside of the card to complete it.

The following ATC (Artists Trading Card) features a stamp named Miss Kitty and a technique called Bingo Blast.

This is a fun technique using bingo markers that have been spritzed with water, but I have also used the starburst stains from Lindy's Stamp Gang, and I am sure there are other liquids you could use as well. Just spritz with water and slam them down on the paper for a unique background.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, and that you will leave a post showing us your Father's Day card. Until next time...

Over The Moon Monday - Technique Challenge

Good morning! Today is another Over The Moon Monday, and I'm glad you're here. Today I have a technique challenge. This challenge is very similar to The Double Bugging found in the Technique Junkie's current issue, although I have been doing mine for awhile and do it a little differently. Let's get started, shall we?

Here is my sample card, using stamps from The Angel Company (butterfly and small leaves) and Hero Arts (sentiment).

To start, you will need 2 cuttlebug embossing folders, a bone folder, sponges, and 2 colors of dye ink, along with your cardstock and a die cut machine (to do the embossing).

First, you emboss the cardstock with the first embossing folder. I used the dotted swiss folder for my first embossing. Then I sponged one of the dye inks (yellow) onto the raised part of the cardstock.

Next I took the bone folder and carefully run it over the embossed cardstock so that it's flattened back down. The dye ink will still be there, but now it will be flat again. Next I took the second embossing folder (the harlequin looking one) and ran the cardstock through the die cut machine again.

The I took the sponge and carefully sponged the 2nd color of dye ink (the green) over the embossed cardstock. Layer onto your card and finish adding your stamped images or embellishments.

I layered mine onto yellow cardstock, then I used the other pieces of the green cardstock to stamp the leaves and sentiment. I stamped the butterfly, cut out and added glitter glue, and adhered it and the flower to the top corner to finish the card.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, and I look forward to seeing your creation. Just leave a link in the comments section. Have a great week!

Over The Moon Monday - Pick 3 Challenge

Hello and welcome to another Over the Moon Monday Pick 3 Challenge. The month of May was a very busy birthday month for me, but I only have 1 birthday to make a card for in June. It's for my brother, so it had to be a masculine card. Or at least not a "girly" card.
As always, you must pick 3 of the following 6 choices to incorporate in your project. Please share a link to your project in the comments section, so we can all admire your creativity.

Here are the 6 choices:
1. Butterfly stamp
2. Pearls
3. Paper Piercer
4. Ticket Corner Punch
5. Brown Paper
6. Charm

Here is the birthday card I created. My 3 choices were the butterfly stamp, the pearls and the brown paper. I think the brown works well to make this into a masculine card. But because it is so dark, you also can barely see that I also used a paper piercer to make holes in the top corners of the dark brown mat. I used different colors of brown ink on yellow cardstock to give it an antiqued look, and a brown chalk ink pad to make the crackles. The butterfly stamp is from Hero Arts, the birthday stamp is from The Angel Company, and the crackle stamp is unknown.

All in all I'm very happy with the results, and I'm sure my brother will appreciate the card.

Now, leave a comment, and share a link to your creation.

Happy stamping!

Over The Moon Monday - Memorial Day

Today, instead of having a challenge, or technique, I'd like us to take a moment to reflect on our fallen heroes and what their sacrifices mean to us.

I am a member of Soldiers Angels. There you can "adopt" a soldier, send cards to the wounded, send cards to the troops, and lots of other options.

I recently found another group that collects cards to send to the troops. It's called Cards for Heroes, and I intend to go through my cards and send them a box. Why don't you check out their website and donate, too.

As the step-mom of a veteran (2 tours of Iraq), I can tell you what it means to the troops to get cards and packages from home.
Here is a card I made using stamps from Artistic Outpost. Hope it stirs you to make a card for a hero.

Over The Moon Monday - Pick 3 Challenge

This has been a wild weekend. First of all, I've been very sick since Monday of last week. Then I am participating in the virtual stamp convention at Rubber Stamp Chat, so I spent the weekend pressing rubber and making stamps (this is a good thing, though). Yesterday, was my birthday (which I don't celebrate anymore), but it was also my youngest granddaughter's birthday, and we do celebrate that one. She had a great party. So, needless to say, I didn't get to do a lot of stamping.

Here are the choices for the Pick 3 Challenge:
*charms
*border punch
*heat embossing
*recycling junk mail
*animals
*the color blue

Today I am going to share an ATC I made for the challenge.
The pear (Just For Fun Stamps) was stamped with Twinkling H20's, then I applied versamark and heat embossed it. The background is made with alcohol inks, and the charm was adhered with a brad.

Hope you have enjoyed my rushed challenge card. Now I'd like to see what you make. Just post a comment with your link. We've had some very nice card links left in the comment section, so I hope you come back and check them out.

Have a great week.

Over The Moon Monday - Pick 3 Challenge

Welcome to another Over The Moon Monday. I hope you had a terrific Mother's Day. I spent mine lounging around, reading, napping, and generally enjoying myself. My daughter brought me flowers and a Dooney and Bourke change purse like one I had admired. Dear hubby cooked some fresh fish he had caught the day before for me and it was overall, a lovely day. The fish were yummy.

I love the Pick 3 challenges, so let's do another one today. Your job is to choose 3 of the following and make a card to share with us via a link in the comment section. Let's get started:

1. Tags
2. Rickrack
3. Patterned Paper
4. Faux stitching
5. Staples
6. Photo corners

For my card, I chose rickrack, patterned paper and faux stitching.

I stamped the "Rise & Shine" stamp from My Paper Moon onto glossy cardstock and watercolored it. I trimmed it to fit onto one of the nestability label tags. I layered this onto a larger nestability label tag. I did the faux stitching around the edges of the larger tag.

I cut some patterned paper and adhered it to the bottom of the card. I used green rickrack to cover the seam. Then I stamped Get Well Soon onto the card and it was complete.

Let's see what you come up with...share it via a link in the comment section.
