Memorial Day

Memorial Day is so much more than the 3 day weekend that signals the beginning of summer. It's a tribute to the many men and women who have died in military service to our country. Many people celebrate by visiting a cemetary to place flowers on the graves of veterans or visiting memorials. Another tradition is to fly your American flag this day. In addition to national observances, many individual communities hold memorial observance for fallen soldiers who were from that town by having a ceremony in a church or town memorial park. It is also common for fire and police departments to remember and honor members lost in the line of duty. Towns often hold a memorial day parade to remember those people.

Whatever your plans, take a moment to remember our fallen heroes, and have a safe and happy Memorial Day.

I'm excited!

Hello! It's been a little while since I posted, and I apologize.

Since my last post, it's:

• been Mother's Day (I got a dozen roses from my kids)


• been hectic at work (my brother is gone....whoopee!)


• and tomorrow is my birthday, along with my youngest granddaughter's birthday (how cool is that?)

Emilie, will be 5 years old tomorrow, and she's excited. Her older sister just turned 11 the 6th of the month, and since that time Emilie has thought it was her birthday every day. I can remember the day she was born, she was the best birthday gift I ever got.

Here she is riding on a giant slug that was in an exhibit at McKee Jungle Gardens. I'm thinking that she needs to spend the night with me tonight and we can go to breakfast tomorrow morning and wear my tiara and have a grand birthday.

But all that is NOT why I'm excited. I have just completed putting together another stamp plate, and I'm really happy with this one. There are patriotic stamps, as well as 2 sizes of awareness ribbons (one is perfect for envelopes and one is perfect for the card). Also an ATC stamp for the back of an ATC, and several saying stamps, as well as some odds and ends. Now to send it off to the engraver. Then get the rubber pressed and onto the website.

I Forgot My Anniversary

It's my anniversary, and I forgot! I can't believe I forgot my anniversary. If my daughter hadn't emailed me and sent her best wishes I would have totally forgotten my anniversary. So, now I'm in a pickle. I didn't make a wonderful card for my hubby for our anniversary. Thankfully I have some already made. The bad thing is, I usually show him my cards as I make them. Do you think this one will work? It uses the postage collage stamp from My Paper Moon.



I can rush home after work and sneak in the house and stamp Happy Anniversary on the inside of the card without him knowing. I don't want to give him another fish card. I give him fish cards so often (since he likes to fish), and on Friday I gave him a card with a sailing ship on it for his birthday, so I'm kinda at a loss.

I'm so bad......I can't believe I forgot my own anniversary.

Another birthday!

Butterfly Girl

This is one of my favorite cards currently. I am the worst when it comes to collage. It does not come easily to me at all. But I like this one. The embossed "metal" on the right side are actually metal-look stickers (Mrs. Grossman), that I ran through the Cuttlebug with the swirls embossing folder. Then swiped a red staz-on inkpad across the raised design. The girl's coat is colored with chalk. I just like the way it turned out.

I got to get together with some fellow stampers this past weekend, and we had a blast. We each brought a dish to share, and a project to make, and we stamped from 10 til 3. I really needed to recharge my batteries creatively, and I think that did the trick.

Today is my oldest granddaughter's 11th birthday! I was there when Rachel was born, and it certainly doesn't seem like 11 years ago. In the delivery room she grabbed hold of grammy's finger and her heart.
