Over The Moon Monday - Pick 3 Challenge

Good morning and welcome to another Over The Moon Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I'm trying to figure out when to take a few days off so I can spend time with my granddaughters before they head back to school. I'd like to do something fun and special with them, but something that doesn't cost a lot of money, so if you have any suggestions, please leave a comment, and I'll let them choose a winner next week. Today I thought we'd do another Pick 3 Challenge, since we haven't done one in a while. Just choose 3 of the following 6 items, then when you are done with your creation, please post a link in the comments section and share with us. Here we go....

• Button
• Flower
• The color Yellow
• Cuttlebug embossing folder
• alcohol inks
• Ribbon

I actually used all of the above on this card, although the ribbon is actually a ribbon stamp (from The Angel Company).

I used the alcohol inks on a glossy cardstock, then stamped the images. On a separate piece of cardstock, I ran it through the cuttlebug and then smooshed a brown ink onto the raised part. I layered the glossy cardstock onto the embossed cardstock, then layered that on to the top left corner of the background cardstock. I stamped a ribbon stamp with brown ink onto a brown cardstock and cut it out. I put those onto the background cardstock in the lower right corner at a 45 degree angle. I put a silk flower in the corner and used a button that I had colored yellow as the center of the flower.

Over The Moon Monday - 1 Stamp 3 Ways

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It's hot - hot - hot here in the sunshine state. I could use some of that cool weather that some of you have been getting. :-) We had a really bad storm on Sunday night and our power went out from 5 p.m. until after 11 p.m.

I recently sent some stamps to Scrapbook News and Review Magazine for their design team to play with. The results were featured in the article, 1 Stamp 3 Ways in the June issue. I love how these turned out. Let's look at them one by one, shall we?

First up are cards using the stamps Becky and Billy and My Life Is... by My Paper Moon.

I love the way Tanya made these into a patriotic card.

I like the colors in this card. The scalloped edge adds to the panache, I think.

Another very pretty card with a unique border. I like the purse...nothing like friends and shopping (except maybe chocolate).

The next cards use the Sheep Dog stamp, which is part of the Moe Wubba collection.

I really like this card. It just screams dog, what with the collar and the dog prints on the background.

I like the background on this card. It surely does remind me of the outdoors. I expect a sheep to come wandering through at any time. :-)

Over The Moon Monday - crayon resist

Welcome to another Over The Moon Monday! I hope your weekend was great! I spent some time with my daughter and granddaughter on Saturday, and Sunday I spent lazing around the house, fighting a migraine. But let's get on with today's challenge.

We are going to use a crayon to resist ink for today's challenge. I buy crayons for my granddaughter, who stays with me before school, and she loves to color, but we always have a white that's never used. Today we are going to use that crayon.

Here is the sample card, which was made by my friend, Shelly.

You will need:
• glossy cardstock
• kaleidacolor pad (or dye ink pad)
• white crayon
• facial tissue (Kleenex)
• permanent black ink
• brayer or sponge
• stamps of your choice

To begin, stamp your images onto glossy cardstock with permanent ink. Allow to dry, or you can heat set with your heat gun. Then take your white crayon and color in the images where you don't want color. Now load up your brayer with the kaleidacolor pad and brayer onto the glossy cardstock. You can also sponge ink onto the cardstock if you choose, but I think brayering give a much richer color. The white crayon will resist the ink. Now take the tissue and gently rub the cardstock to remove the white crayon.

Over The Moon Monday - We have a winner

Oh Say Can You See Blog Hop

I'm so glad you could join the SNR Card Universe Blog Hop today. If you came from Lorie Ames blog you are on the right track! If you didn't, you may want to hop to SNR Card Universe and start at the beginning.

Let's get started, shall we? Today I have a red, white and blue card to share with you.


I know you have a lot more blogs to check out, so we'll keep this short and sweet.

1. I adhered aluminum foil to a piece of cardstock. Then I applied alcohol inks in denim and red pepper, leaving some of the silver showing through. I spritzed it with alcohol to get splatters.

2. I ran the cardstock through the cuttlebug with the diamonds in the rough embossing folder. Then I took a staz-0n pad in ultramarine and smooshed it over the raised diamonds.

3. I stamped "U.S.A..." onto white cardstock, and cut it out with a nestability oval die. I took a red staz-0n pad and distressed the paper, with spatters and edging. Set aside to dry.

4. I stamped the large awareness ribbon onto white cardstock, coloring with a red marker and a blue marker. Then I cut it out and adhered pop dots on the back.

5. I cut a piece of red cardstock 4" x 3/4". I punched a whole and secured a blue star brad. Then I adhered it to the front of the card.

6. I had a silver flag charm, which I colored with blue and red alcohol ink, rubbing some off to give it a distressed look. I adhered that to the bottom of the oval with a silver brad. Then I adhered it to the red cardstock with adhesive.

7. I adhered the cut out awareness ribbon to the front of the card, and layered it onto red cardstock, white cardstock, and blue cardstock.
