Over The Moon Monday - Memorial Day

Today, instead of having a challenge, or technique, I'd like us to take a moment to reflect on our fallen heroes and what their sacrifices mean to us.

I am a member of Soldiers Angels. There you can "adopt" a soldier, send cards to the wounded, send cards to the troops, and lots of other options.

I recently found another group that collects cards to send to the troops. It's called Cards for Heroes, and I intend to go through my cards and send them a box. Why don't you check out their website and donate, too.

As the step-mom of a veteran (2 tours of Iraq), I can tell you what it means to the troops to get cards and packages from home.
Here is a card I made using stamps from Artistic Outpost. Hope it stirs you to make a card for a hero.

Over The Moon Monday - Pick 3 Challenge

This has been a wild weekend. First of all, I've been very sick since Monday of last week. Then I am participating in the virtual stamp convention at Rubber Stamp Chat, so I spent the weekend pressing rubber and making stamps (this is a good thing, though). Yesterday, was my birthday (which I don't celebrate anymore), but it was also my youngest granddaughter's birthday, and we do celebrate that one. She had a great party. So, needless to say, I didn't get to do a lot of stamping.

Here are the choices for the Pick 3 Challenge:
*charms
*border punch
*heat embossing
*recycling junk mail
*animals
*the color blue

Today I am going to share an ATC I made for the challenge.
The pear (Just For Fun Stamps) was stamped with Twinkling H20's, then I applied versamark and heat embossed it. The background is made with alcohol inks, and the charm was adhered with a brad.

Hope you have enjoyed my rushed challenge card. Now I'd like to see what you make. Just post a comment with your link. We've had some very nice card links left in the comment section, so I hope you come back and check them out.

Have a great week.

Over The Moon Monday - Pick 3 Challenge

Welcome to another Over The Moon Monday. I hope you had a terrific Mother's Day. I spent mine lounging around, reading, napping, and generally enjoying myself. My daughter brought me flowers and a Dooney and Bourke change purse like one I had admired. Dear hubby cooked some fresh fish he had caught the day before for me and it was overall, a lovely day. The fish were yummy.

I love the Pick 3 challenges, so let's do another one today. Your job is to choose 3 of the following and make a card to share with us via a link in the comment section. Let's get started:

1. Tags
2. Rickrack
3. Patterned Paper
4. Faux stitching
5. Staples
6. Photo corners

For my card, I chose rickrack, patterned paper and faux stitching.

I stamped the "Rise & Shine" stamp from My Paper Moon onto glossy cardstock and watercolored it. I trimmed it to fit onto one of the nestability label tags. I layered this onto a larger nestability label tag. I did the faux stitching around the edges of the larger tag.

I cut some patterned paper and adhered it to the bottom of the card. I used green rickrack to cover the seam. Then I stamped Get Well Soon onto the card and it was complete.

Let's see what you come up with...share it via a link in the comment section.

I got the following note from Amy over at Rubber Stamp Chat.

"From May 4th through May 14th, Kevin Nakagawa of Stampscapes will be our Guest Artist at RSC. He'll be available to answer all of your stamping questions. Come on over and read his responses to scenic stamping questions or ask him a question of your own. There is also an interview with Kevin so you can learn more about the artist.

Don't miss out on the May Sketch Challenge sponsored Auntie Amy Stamps! She's offering a bunch of different prizes so check it out!

Mark your calendar for our Virtual Convention running from May 14th through the 18th. It's always a fun time! "

If you aren't a member, you need to get on over to Rubber Stamp Chat and check it out. Tell them Becky P sent you.

Over The Moon Monday - Technique Challenge

Good morning! I hope you had a relaxing weekend. I was busy making birthday cards this weekend, as most of my family has a birthday in May.

Are you ready for a challenge? Then let's get started! I've been using my alcohol inks recently, and I love the way they look on aluminum foil.

To make today's card, I glued aluminum foil to a piece of cardstock so that the shape would hold. Then I ran it through the cuttlebug with an embossing folder.
I chose a couple of colors of alcohol ink and dabbed them onto the embossed aluminum foil. Then I lightly spritzed it with alcohol. Then I took a copic marker and colored the flowers and vines. I stamped "Thinking of You" onto a piece of white cardstock and punched it out. I backed it with a larger punched piece, and punched tiny holes in that. I adhered it to the card front with pop dots.

Now it's your turn. Please post in the comments with a link to your creation.
