Happy Friday

Well, I've done it again. I haven't posted in awhile. I really do hope to rectify that soon, I've just been busy (and a little under the weather). "Doing what?" you say? I have recently joined the Card Universe. "What's that?" It's a new online community, found here. I'm uploading artwork right now. If you get a chance, fly on over and check it out.

I want to thank my friend Shelly for this beautiful card. Isn't it gorgeous? It's much prettier in real life. There are several layers that are popped up, and it has real lace edging. It came on a day when I needed a pick-me-up.

She also enclosed a couple stamps, one of which pertains to cats (I have 2 cat-boys). I always love cat stamps.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Travel Collage

Good morning! I apologize for not posting recently. I've not been well, but I hope to be back on track now. Today I want to show you three cards that were made with the same stamp, and how differently they look because of their background.

This first card was made by my friend, Shelly. Notice the torn page that was attached to the cardstock, then the image was stamped on the whole thing. I like the look of this.

I stamped the same image on a background made with encaustic wax, then it was cut out and adhered to the cardstock. I like the mixture of colors in this piece.

The next card was made by Barbara Albrecht and uses and alcohol ink background.

The same image looks totally different because of the backgrounds. The stamp used was the Travel Collage Stamp from My Paper Moon.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

And the winner is....

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. My sweetie got me a dozen roses. I forgot to share my special Valentine story with you. It was the day my sweetie proposed to me in 2001. Very romantic.

Anyway, the comments were spead over several days, making a random number generator of little use, so I put everyone's comments into a box and had my DH pull out one.

And (drum roll please).....the winner of the prize for commenting on my Valentine's cards is...Georgette V. of Maine. Georgette, I'll be getting your prize into the mail on Tuesday.

Thank you everyone for playing along.

Valentine #4

Good morning! Our weather is back to normal - warm. It's still cool at night, and that's a good thing.

Here is the last of the valentine's I am going to share with you.

This is a gate-fold card. I cut the patterned paper to fit on each side of the card. I cut out a heart from holographic paper, then cut a slightly larger heart from black to place behind the holographic heart. I stamped the image (Cool Cat from My Paper Moon), colored him with copic markers and cut him out. I adhered him to the holographic heart. I stamped the same image again onto the patterned paper and just cut out the heart, which I adhered to the stamped imaged. I stamped "Happy Valentine's Day" on the inside, and viola! I'm done.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards. I have made quite a few other Valentine's cards, but I've run out of time to share them with you.

I love to read your comments. Tell me your most memorable Valentine's Day, and I'll pick a random winner on Sunday, February 15th, and send a prize. I will need contact info to get in touch with you if you are a winner. If I am unable to contact you or you don't respond to my emails by February 22nd I will pick another winner.

Valentine #3

Baby, it's cold outside! Today has to be the coldest it's been so far. I'm all bundled up like a snowman! Go ahead, call me a wimp, but I don't like it when it's this cold. And this is cold for Florida.

Today I want to share another valentine I've made this year. The image is from My Paper Moon. I stamped the image on white cardstock and colored it with markers. I stamped another image and cut out the red hatband and the rose, which I colored and then used pop dots for dimension.

I cut out the image using an oval nestability die. I also cut out a slightly larger piece of red cardstock with a larger oval die, and mounted the image on this.

I folded a piece of cardstock to make an A2 card. I cover it with black dotted paper. I ran a white piece of paper through the cuttlebug using the dotted swiss embossing plate. I cut this out into a scalloped shape. I also did a scallop between the white and black cardstock using silver glitter.

I cut a tag with the Cricut, which had "L O V E" punched out. I put a piece of black and white patterned paper behind it, added a piece of black ribbon and mounted onto the card.

I hope you have enjoyed today's card. Stay warm, wherever you are.

Valentine #2

Good afternoon. I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was so-so. I somehow hurt my ankle several weeks ago, and sometimes the pain is so excruciating that I just have to keep it propped up. If I had medical insurance, I sure would have been to the doctor by now. But since I don't, I just try to keep it elevated and take massive amounts of ibuprofen (which doesn't help my stomach, but that's another story for another day). And on top of that, I awoke every morning, starting Friday, with a migraine. I was up at 4 a.m. this morning, standing in the shower with the water as hot as I could stand it, just letting it rain down on my head, trying to ease the pain.

Anyway, here is my valentine #2:

This is a matchbook card. I really like this little Cool Cat from My Paper Moon. He's very versatile, and I have small stamps that fit inside the heart, also. He makes a great card for birthdays, congratulations, and more.

I stamped him on watercolor paper, then colored him with Copic markers. I ran some red ink around the edges. I was going to watercolor him (which is why I stamped him on watercolor paper in the first place), but I liked the way he turned out with the Copics. I matted that onto a piece of black cardstock.

I stamped the heart a 2nd time, colored it, covered it with stickles, cut it out, and put it in place with pop dots. The gold accents were cut with the Cricut, and the black ribbon with white dots was glued to the bottom, covering the staple. I stamped 3 small hearts, colored them, and applied stickles.

I hope you like my cool valentine cat as much as I do.
