Thank You...and Blog Candy

Thank you for putting up with me this year. I have enjoyed your comments and I look forward to sharing with you in the new year. It has been a year today since I stopped smoking, and I thought that would be a good time to give something away. It wasn't an easy thing to do, but I (and my husband) succeeded. I'm proud of us. We couldn't have done it without each other.

As some of you know, I used to have a brick and mortar scrapbook store, and I had this Scrap Metal set left over, which contains 148 pieces. I would be happy to send it to some lucky person (winner drawn randomly). All you have to do is leave a comment telling me about the hardest thing you ever did (or gave up). Or one of your resolutions for this year.

I'll pick a winner on Monday, January 5th, so check back to see if you've won.

May we all have a healthy and prosperous 2009!

I think the hardest thing I ever did was go 3 days in the middle of winter, snowed in with no power. It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't had a my 4 month old baby at the time. But fretting over her staying warm and not taking ill was so overwhelming.

My goal for this year is to lose at least 30 pounds. It's daunting to me- it really is.

My resolution for the past 15 years has been to write my will and I finally did it, so this year I am taking a serious look at myself and my resolution is to learn to be kind.

My resolution is to take a real vacation. One where I spend a week or two at a beach somewhere walking on the shore in the morning and having seafood for lunch.

First let me say congratulations to both your husband and you for quitting smoking!!!!!
as for me the hardest thing I ever had to give up was that I would never be able to hug my son again. He died in an auto accident 5 yrs ago on the 19th.He was 18.
I don't want to end on a sad note, so,,,,,I just want to say keep up the great work and ART keeps me sane!!!!!!!

The hardest thing for me to do was this year watching my daughter have a cancerous tumor removed and the waiting for the new biopsy..especially harder for me because i lost my Mom to colon cancer a few years ago...With Gods Help and friends and art peoples prayers my daughter got a clean bill of health from the removal and biopsy.I am forever grateful for this blessing.Congrats on quitting smoking..I remember how hard it was for my mom when she did after 60 years of it.I love mixed media and still do scrapbooking so thanks for the opportunity on your blog. Your art work is lovely! Hugs,Ina

Congratulations to both you and your husband. I am glad that you quit togther so you could support each other. I thought the hardest thing I had ever done was quit smoking also, but that was not the case. the hardest thing I ever did was quit smoking a second time. I had been a non smoker for 6 years when I started again. I couldn't believe how fast I got addicted again. It was as if I had never quit. I smoked again for a year before finally giving it up. For some reason it was much harder to quit the second time.

I can't remember what the hardest thing I've tackled is LOL!!! But I can remember one resolution for this year: to stamp more "sets" of cards to use as gifts to other people this year, rather than purchasing gifts.
Love all the techniques listed on your Blog, Becky! Donna Ellis

Great job on quitting smoking, Becky. The hardest thing I've ever done was lose 50 lbs. It took me a year and I've (SADLY) gained it all back + more. I am going back to WW next week and try again.

I am just about to embark on the toughest journey of my life. I have tried all my life to lose weight and to keep it off.
In a couple of weeks I will be having the Lap Band weightloss surgery.
I am anxious and nervous all at the same time. But I am going on faith that this tool will help me to be healthier.

The very hardest thing I ever gave up ..was a friendship with a woman that I have known since 1974. I don't even know what happened..she is in CA and I am in PA. At first I kept sending cards and trying to find out what happened..but then in the end I had to give it up ..and just try not to worry about it. I was her babysitter for her children, her children grew up and babysat my children. Her youngest child was in our wedding..we were very good friends.

I, too, would like to add my congratulations on quitting smoking. My husband has been trying to do so for years. My hardest thing is losing weight. I do like my chocolate. But this is the year. I have to do it. I have a good start.

I work hard not to make resolutions because I end up breaking down and messing up by February. I then feel guilty for the rest of the year. So, I post sorta a mission for the year. I don't have my mission down pat yet but it is going to be something about working toward building a better world beginning with me. I am going to smile at people when they are grouchy, I'm going to say thank you more, I'm going to be the first person there when someone needs help. I am going to work toward peace and that is beginning with me.I am not going to get mad so easily. I'm going to learn how to not get upset over little things. That is going to begin right here at home with my DH. I'm going to make sure we don't fuss as much this year. So, my mission this year is going to be about peace and happiness and I have to be the fist one to step up and do the right thing.

Congrats on stopping smoking...You should be very proud of yourself! The hardest thing I have ever done was watching my Mom die of Lung cancer at the age of 59. I want to live every moment with intention. After reading all the earlier posts I realize that we all should live for each day and be thankful for all we have. My thoughts are with all the others that have had such pain and sadness.

CONGRATS! My husband smokes and I know how hard it is to quit and have the will power. My problem is not having will power. I would love to lose 40 pounds, but I love Mtn. Dew, Chocolate, and food too much!
THANKS for the give away! I'm excited!!

My hardest thing was I used to be a basic EMT and had to give that up because of a bad back. I did this for no pay they would have paid me but my dad had a terminal illness and used the ambulance service for years and I wanted to give back for what me got and show the world there is still compassion out there. I would do it again today if I could my dad's been gone almost 14 years and I miss him each day.

I just had my 55th birthday and realize I have been smoking since I was 12 and now this is the year to quit. When I hear of people like yourself and your husband you are an inspiration to me and help me take the incentive to JUST DO IT!.
Although it is only January 4th this is my 4th day smoke free, and in a year I'd like to be able to say YEAH!! I did it!
Thanks for all of the inspiration you have help give me

Congrats to both of you! The hardest thing I have ever done is to lose my "baby" fat. My "baby" is 14. He is my sixth child. I am finally, since starting in Sept of 2007, back below the weight I was when I had my fourth child. I am working back down to my pre-baby weight.

Not sure that my previous post went through..so, I will cut to the chase here. I have failed at giving things up. So, I will try art resolutions this year. I want to be more participatory in my groups, and think outside the box that I have created for myself. New ideas, techniques, and substrates. I would really like to work on canvas this year. I sure hope to win the metal bits!!! These are yummy!!! Hisses, Rockin Robin
