Bandanna Technique

Good afternoon! I'm still on vacation and enjoying it. I haven't stamped much the last couple of weeks, I've been way too busy. But I did make time to play a little bit. Here is the result:

This is a technique from the Technique Junkies newsletter called a Bandanna technique. I made the background paper with alcohol inks on glossy cardstock, then ran it through the cuttlebug embossing folder. I hit the embossed parts with a purple dye inkpad and allowed it to dry. Then I took a white Jelly Roll Glaze pen and put dots around all the embossed parts. It looks really cool in real life.

I spent the morning at the community pool with my youngest granddaughter. She's been so good and is so excited for school to start. She has been a pure joy and one of the reasons I haven't stamped much.

We are due for our afternoon thunderstorm, so I will sign off for now. Hope you are getting some crafting done, and we'll talk again later.

On Vacation...

I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I'm on vacation and enjoying every minute of it!
I have been taking my oldest granddaughter, Rachel, to the local pool every day. We stayed home today and I got a lot of stuff done, but we'll pick back up tomorrow and take Emilie with us, also. Today was Em's last day of pre-school, and I have to give her credit, even though she knew we were going to the pool every day, she still wanted to go to school.
When you get a chance, check out "A Charming Place" in my links. I've gotten charms from there before, and love them.
Talk to you again soon...

Sneak Peek

This is a sneak peek at a stamp that will be released in the near future by My Paper Moon. I love this image. I painted him with twinkling H2O's, so he's really shiny and shimmery. I was going to put some glitter, but decided the jewels were enough. There is so much going on with the bird (and some of the black lines you can't see because of the glare), that all he needed was a simple watercolored background in lighter colors. In real life he's gorgeous! The other stamps from this plate are also eclectic, so if you like stamps that are different, you will love these. They will be released soon.

Blogger does not like me today. I'm having a hard time formatting my post, so if it looks strange, it is.

I will be on vacation for the next 2 weeks. Woohoo! I need a vacation. I plan on cleaning out a lot of boxes and moving things around, so maybe I will come up with some blog candy. I don't know if I will get the chance to post a lot, as I hope to get all this done. And in addition, the first week my oldest granddaughter and I will be doing little excursions, and the 2nd week I will have my youngest granddaughter also, so I'm sure I won't have a lot of time, but I WILL have a lot of fun!

Talk to you again soon....and don't forget to let me know your street name!

A Card For My Friend and other important stuff

Stamp credits: Stampabilities and Stampendous
Hello! I wanted to post a card I made for my friend who had surgery yesterday. I've never met her in person, but she's my online friend, and I wanted her to know she was missed and being thought about. The horses are from Stampabilities, the crackled background is a stamp from Stampendous. The rest I did with masks and stipple brushes. I colored the horses with sharpie markers.

We didn't have any rain today! Yippee! It's hot and humid, though. Typical summertime weather in the Sunshine State. I will be on vacation (sort of) the next 2 weeks, and I'm looking forward to going to the pool with my granddaughters and getting some work done around the house. It's too expensive to go anywhere, but it will be good to not have to get up and go to work. I will have to come in a couple of days for an hour or two and write checks, but that's okay.

I am hearing a lot of "I'd like to see a newsletter". I was sure that you would want to see the techniques and news here, but I guess with a newsletter you don't have to remember to look at the blog. So I will be working on that in the near future. If you haven't already voted in the poll, please do so.

Another thing someone suggested was a Yahoo Group to share cards made with My Paper Moon / Stampsations / Moe Wubba stamps. This would be okay, except I don't have time to moderate and run a Yahoo Group. If you are interested in moderating and running a Yahoo group, I will be happy to set it up and post from time to time. If we are only using it for a photo album, there shouldn't be much work on your part. I just don't want to put something else on my plate right now if I am developing a newsletter in addition to added responsibilities at my day job. So think it over, and if you would be willing to be the moderator, let me know.

We'll talk again soon...

Rain, Rain Go Away...and maybe a new contest...tell me what you think.

I couldn't resist the cat and the sentiment (which you can purchase here.) They seem like they were made to go together, even though the cat image actually says "It's a Cattitude". I just masked that part when I stamped the cat. He looks really red in the scan, but he's brown in real life. This sentiment is very correct, too. I have 2 furbabies (I should say fur tzars) and they rule the roost. They tolerate us, only because we open their packets of food.

How's the weather where you live? I've been busy doing work on my computer all day, which is just as well, it's been raining here all day. I plan on doing a little stamping later on. I have a couple of projects started, and I really would like to finish them. Have you worked on anything today? Leave me a comment and let me know what you've been up to.

As I said earlier, I was working today, entering orders that I've already shipped into the computer, and I noticed there are some really cool street names out there. We could have a contest for stamps for the coolest street name. Everyone could submit their street name, then we could have a poll and vote for the coolest. The winner would receive a bag of stamps. Leave a comment and let me know if you would like to participate. Just leave your street name. I don't need the number, just the name of the street. Now, you have to be honest with your street name, because that's where I'm going to mail your stamps if you win. ;0)

Hope you get some crafting done. Talk to you again soon....

Happy Thursday.

Happy Thursday! Whew, have I been busy or what? I'm so sorry I haven't had time to post, but let me tell you what's been happening.

As most of you know, I work a day job to support my night job...lol. Seriously I do work a day job as an office manager/bookkeeper for my brother's automotive repair shop. Our end of the fiscal year is June 30th, so I've been busy working on end of the year stuff to get it ready for the accountant. On top of that, my brother had a stroke on July 2nd, so he's not been around to help out. And at night I have been busy pressing rubber making those wonderful little red rubber stamps we all love. So, it's been a good thing. I'm always happy when I smell that rubber smell.

Congratulations to Elise H., who contacted me after winning the stamps I was giving away. Her stamps are in the mail and I'm hoping she enjoys them. I'm hoping she will share her creations with us.

I am thinking about starting a monthly or semi-monthly newsletter. With maybe some techniques/tutorials, etc. What do you think? Would you sign up for it? Take my poll and let me know.

What have you been creating? Leave me a comment telling me what you've been working on.

I'll talk to you again soon.

We have a Winner!!!

Good morning! Hope you had a Happy and safe 4th of July!

I had my granddaughter, Emilie (she's 5), who is my random number generator (this makes her feel important), pick a number, and she chose number 2. So, Elise H. needs to contact me with her name and address by July 9th, so I can get the blog candy in the mail. If I do not hear from Elise by July 9th, we will draw another winner.

Talk to you again soon!

Blog Candy

Good morning! I love my pinwheel stamp. And bamboo skewers make the perfect handle for them. These are pop-dotted so they stand out from the paper. I need to make some red, white and blue ones for the 4th of July.

Speaking of the 4th of July, the poll is now closed, and the majority of you have voted to have a giveaway of some of the new stamps instead of a contest, so I will be giving away 7 of the new images, including a set of the awareness ribbons. All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what your 4th of July plans are. Also, your email address or some way to contact you if you are the winner. If I don't have any way of contacting you, then you will have to check back here on July 5th. Then, on the 4th of July, I will randomly (with my random number generator), pick a winner. Easy peasy! So what are you waiting for?

Thank you for all your prayers for Bradley. He's very appreciative. If you would like to send him a card his address is: Bradley McWhorter, Room 318, Markey Cancer Center, 800 Rose St., Lexington, KY 40536. He has started his chemo and so far so good.

Talk to you again soon...
